John M. Silvis, a CFA Charterholder, serves as Fairport’s Chief Investment Officer. As CIO, John oversees the research of the Investment Team, determines the asset allocation of Fairport’s model portfolios, and directs investment decisions and implementation. John provides clients, prospects and internal staff with guidance about Fairport’s investment philosophy, process and performance. He is also responsible for periodically updating the team on current market and economic conditions.
John brings over 30 years of experience to the Investment Team and has been with Fairport since 2000. John began his career at Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and prior to joining Fairport, he was a Portfolio Manager at National City Bank. John obtained a B.A. in Economics from Penn State University and his MBA from Baldwin Wallace University.
He is a current member of the CFA Institute and a longtime member of the CFA Society Cleveland. John completed a term as President at the CFA Society Cleveland, having served in the past as Vice President, Treasurer and Chair of the Investment Committee. John has served on the Investment Committee for the Benjamin Rose Institute where he participated as a member from 2013 until 2018. John currently serves as the Chair on the Investment Committee of the Kelvin and Eleanor Smith Foundation, a private family foundation. Additionally, John serves on the Diocesan Finance Council and its Investment Committee for the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland. He also serves on the Professional Advisors Committee of the Catholic Community Foundation and recently served a term on State Street’s SPDR Client Advisory Council.
John lives in Strongsville with his wife Lori and has three adult children. He enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling and is an avid Penn State fan.
