Community Beacon
To provide meaningful support as a team, we’ve adopted the policy of selecting one charitable cause per year that reflects our values. We have selected children’s literacy, and specifically the Cleveland Kids’ Book Bank, as our 2023 Community Beacon. The mission of the book bank is to foster literacy and a love of reading by distributing free books to children through collaboration with community partners.

Since their founding in 2016, Cleveland Kids’ Book Bank has distributed more than 4 million books in Greater Cleveland, reaching 100,000+ children annually through more than 1,500 partner organizations. More than 8,000 volunteers of all backgrounds including teens, college students, young professionals, families, retirees, and corporate and civic groups have helped sort and box books for distribution at their warehouse.
"The Cleveland Kids' Book Bank is honored to have been named Fairport Wealth's Community Beacon for 2023,” says CKBB Executive Director Ori Akrish. “Along with our partners, we are committed to ensuring that all kids in Cleveland can receive quality, diverse and engaging books that belong to them." Distributing diverse books is a priority for the organization, as it is imperative for kids to see themselves in the books they read. Through their annual ‘Books Like Me Campaign’ and support from generous donors, they will purchase and distribute at least 40,000 books featuring characters of color in 2023.
Fairport Wealth President Matt Logar shares, “Fairport team members in Cleveland and our other offices are eager to find ways to support children’s literacy in our respective communities. We are particularly excited to find creative ways to promote financial literacy for children and families.” Initial plans include sponsorship of the organization’s Booktoberfest fundraiser, book drives and clubs, and book-sorting events. As always, our clients, who share our commitment to support the community, will be invited to join us in myriad ways.
Fairport’s Marketing Department is particularly fond of the Cleveland Kids’ Book Bank; Digital Marketing Manager Annika Traner and Chief Marketing Officer Kristen Lucas are volunteers and avid supporters!
